There’s something so special about coming together to stitch, and our recent Sashiko Bunnies Workshop with Selina Ben was no exception. Thread in hand, our Sashiko Stitch Club gathered to explore the beauty of Sashiko in the cutest, most playful way—by stitching our very own samples of Selina's Sashiko Bunnies pattern.

Selina is a textile artist, mender, and repeat Making Zen instructor based in Amsterdam, and she's passionate about reducing textile waste and its impact on the planet. Her guidance is such a treat, and beginners and experienced stitchers alike had sew much fun with this project. Throughout the session, there was a wonderful sense of community as we stitched, shared, and admired each other’s creations.

The Magic of Making Together

Though we all followed the same pattern, each piece of art that was created in this workshop shows the hand of the maker. Some stitchers favoured delicate and precise stitches, while others embraced a looser, organic style. Every choice—from thread colour to fabric selection—made each finished sample special.

Before our group settled into the quiet rhythm of stitching together, Selina shared her inspiration for the pattern and how it came together as an hitomezashi stitch. Then, she walked us through the process of stitching these wee bunnies to life!

The Sashiko Bunnies Showcase

One of the most beautiful aspects of this workshop was seeing how each participant brought their own personality to their bunny sampler - each piece reflecting a bit of the maker.

Of course, we can’t just talk about these gorgeous creations without sharing them with you. Without further ado, here are some of the stunning Sashiko Bunnies from our workshop!

This workshop was a beautiful reminder that stitching is not just about the finished piece—it’s about the process, the community, and the stories woven into every thread.

Hi, I'm Kate!

I am a strong believer in starting where you are and using what you have, wherever and whatever that may be.

Everyone should get to experience the joy of connecting to others through learning, experimenting, and creating.

Creativity doesn’t have to be expensive or wasteful. Whether we’re using natural materials, reusing materials, or shopping our own stashes first, creating mindfully goes beyond being present in the moment - it extends to being mindful of our environment and the other communities around us, too.
